“Welcome to Auchan Direct!” Jerome Dalidet, Manager of Auchan Direct greets us with a firm handshake and a smile. “You can see that we are in the process of preparing the latest orders that will be ready to go in the next hour. Our clients don’t have to wait!” Indeed, when we enter one of the brand’s preparation and delivery sites, we can see that there is not a minute to be lost – a whole section of the Paris region is awaiting deliveries by the end of the day. “The Paris region, but not exclusively: we also have branches in Lyon, Lille, Toulouse and Marseille, to be as present and efficient as possible,” adds Jerome Dalidet.
Efficient, but also attentive to the new practices and expectations of clients. Explains Jerome Dalidet: “We have observed, in recent years, a new trend in our clientele, turning around this question: how can time be saved and budgets kept under control when shopping? The drive-in service already exists, but you need to go and pick up your groceries after placing your order. At Auchan Direct, you order in just a few clicks and we take care of delivery, provided free of charge for purchases upwards of 180€. When you’re an executive, for example, and office hours are precious, this type of service can change your relationship with shopping. This, in any case, is the feedback we get from our clients!”
On top of referencing over 7,500 everyday products (dairy products, frozen foods, non-alcoholic drinks, wines and spirits, hygiene and beauty products, cleaning products), as well as fresh goods (fruit and vegetables, meat, cold cuts, delicatessen goods, cheeses), innovation is a permanent factor at Auchan, as can be seen in its special trucks fitted with 3 compartments (one at 4°C for fresh products, one for frozen foods kept at –18°C and another at room temperature). This means products arrive in perfect condition, respecting the cold chain, so that groceries can be delivered optimally.
Auchan Direct also illustrates family spirit, thanks to its 600 employees all over France, explains Jerome Dalidet. “In-company wellbeing is a major element for its efficiency. We train young people in client service, for example, and we offer all our employees the possibility of improving their skills within our structure. It’s important for us that an employee has the possibility of evolving. And this shows in our client feedback, with some even requesting that the same delivery persons come back. For us, the client is the barometer of our metier!”
It should be said that Auchan Direct, as well as delivering groceries within 24 hours, above all offers a number of delivery slots. “The main problem encountered when expecting a delivery is the timetables. Most of the time, parcels are delivered in the morning. There’s no need to explain that this is not an option when you work: you can’t wait around for a delivery. At Auchan Direct, it’s the client who chooses delivery hours and our delivery person lets the client know when he or she is about to arrive. For we adapt to the client’s desires, this is the basis of our strength and efficiency.”
On a fully expanding market, home shopping is spreading. Keen to keep up with its clientele’s new practices, Auchan Direct thus offers a new approach to one’s free time – namely by avoiding the weekend rush and long cash-desk queues.
